SPEAKER INFORMATION

Gordon, MichaelMichael Gordon, CPA, is a director with Mauldin & Jenkins, LLC. Since joining Mauldin & Jenkins in 2005, Michael has focused his career on audits for financial institutions and employee benefit plans. He also has experience in HUD audits as well as audits of governmental entities. Michael is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants.

 

Martin, RachaelRachael Martin, CPA, is a director with Mauldin & Jenkins, LLC. Since joining Mauldin & Jenkins in 2005, Rachael has focused her career on audits for financial institutions. Rachael also has experience in HUD audits as well as audits of non-profit institutions. Rachael has continued her professional education by attending a variety of audit and tax training classes.  Rachael is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants.  She is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Georgia.

Trainor, KrisKris Trainor, CPA, is a partner with Mauldin & Jenkins, LLC. Since joining Mauldin & Jenkins in 1995, Kris has focused his career on audits for financial institutions. He has continued his professional education by attending a variety of audit and tax training classes. Kris is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Georgia and is licensed to practice in California. He also previously served on the AICPA’s Examination Content Subcommittee for the Audit section of the CPA exam.

Who should attend: CFOs, COOs, and anyone who is responsible for the preparation of Call Reports should register for this seminar.

This seminar is designed to explain the why’s, how's and where's of Call Report preparation. This course is perfect for both the beginner and the experienced Call Report preparer. The instructors pace the class based upon the experience level of the attendees. Participants will receive a detailed line-by-line review in the completion of significant schedules of a call report and will be encouraged to share their Call Reporting experiences. Appropriate items to be reported and relationships between schedules will be discussed as part of this review. This one-day seminar will be presented by a team of Mauldin & Jenkins professionals (Michael Gordon, Rachael Martin, and Kris Trainor) and will offer practical techniques to improve your overall reporting process.

Seminar topics include: 

  •  Discussion of why banks prepare the Call Report
  •  Review of upcoming & proposed changes
  • Discussion of the changes for the March 31, 2017 Call Report, including the new form 051 for institutions less than $1 billion in total assets. 
  •  Helpful hints and suggestions for preparing the Call Report
  •  Review of Report of Condition (RC) and supporting schedules
  •  Review of Report of Income (RI) and supporting schedules
  •  Emphasis on Schedules RC-C and RC-R, including common mistakes that have been seen in the new reporting requirements of RC-R
  •  Common errors and problems associated with completing the Call Report

Each schedule will be discussed generally and significant line items will be discussed in detail. Some topics such as loans, investments and regulatory capital will be discussed in depth because they make up significant portions of the call report.

Schedules RC-S (Securitization), RC-T (Trust) and RC-V (VIEs) are not covered.
